Final Fantasy X Speculation

FFX - The Story

Sin. A powerful force came to earth a thousand years ago to destroy it. But he failed and went back to re-emrge a thousand years later to destroy the earth.

Which brings use to Tidus and the gang. Tidus meets up with Yuna, when she is trying to get somewhere. Tidus decides to be the escort and takes her. When he gets there (more characters have joined) he decides to stick around. He soon finds out that Yuna must take down Sin, who has returned from 1000 years ago. Tidus is on his mission to kill Sin, while learning about his past.

The Characters

Tidus - A master Blitzball player. He guides Yuna to her destination and learns about his past.
Yuna - A summoner, must find her way to Sin and destroy him.
Sin - A powerful being, coming back to try and destroy the world again.

Some Speculation

Blitzball - an underwater soccer game.
Limit Breaks - Tidus' and Yuna's will be mostly water.
Summons - Called Aeons, will be a big factor in battle and advancing the story.

Martin Says: Interesting theory, but fairly basic. The theory that Sin is 1000 years old matches up with the FFX prophecy, and it's most likely right. So, Sin is an alien force that came to Spira and was stopped. Interesting. ;)

But no explanation about Tidus (Tide) and "the gang"? How do they get together? Why?

The rest of your speculation is cut-and-dried, just explaining facts that are already well known. So, not too many theories or too much speculation on your part. ;)

A marriage, and a death

Bad hair day...
Seymour, a newly-revealed NPC who marries Yuna
Well since I've just seen the 11 heavy spoiler pics... don't know why though but here's my speculation. I have a pic to show the person I'm talking about.

1. My speculation is that that guy with the weird hair somehow when it comes down to him and Yuna getting married she'll proably be possesed or under some spell to marry him.

2. My other speculation is that Yuna or Kimari will end up dying somewhere in tha game just like Aeris did in FFVII but instead of coming at the end of the game and doing the life stream I think that her spirit will be the Ultimate summon thus making her know what her destiny really was... if you what I mean, like how she sets off to learn more about them, well... she is the Holy Shin!!

About Seymour, even though he'll join your party... I speculate that he will end up turning on Tidus and somehow become the next to the last boss in the game, then, realizing that he can't beat them, he merges with Sin to become one entity thus being the Final Boss in FFX.

Martin Says: (1) You know, that could very well be. Although, according to reports, Seymour marries her to protect her... and it seems she may be of normal, sound mind when accepting his proposal. Though, that could very well be, you never know. ;)

(2) Out of everyone's theories, I probably like this one the most. Personally, I originally thought Yuna would be killed (but later decided to opt out of that). But her death leading to her being the Ultimate Summon... that makes lots of sense. Nice theory man, I seriously like it!

As for your final paragraph, another plausible theory, which is surprisingly similar to mine. Interesting. ;)

Hidden bad guy

Author: Alex the Sekkite

My theory is that there is a hidden bad guy pushing who you think the real bad guy is on. Kinda like Kuja and Necron... and the hidden bad guy tries to take over the world. :)
Martin Says: Ah, those glorious hidden bad guys. Zeromus. Ultimecia. Necron. Will history repeat itself? I sincerely hope not. What's more appealing, in my eyes, is having one main villain throughout the entire game (or a large majority of it). A villain you really get to know well. Love him or hate him. And then, beat the snot out of him. With Ultimecia (who you saw once before fighting her) and Necron (who came completely out of the blue), it doesn't have that Final Boss feel. So, hopefully, if there's someone pushing a bad guy, we know partway through the game so it's not a last-minute discovery. Cause those are never fun. ;)

Enemy summoner

Author: shireka

I think that the enemy will be a summoner that tries to summon a beast named Sin. Sin can control weather and it has destroyed Tidus' homeland with its powers. And now Yuna another summoner must find a summon that can fight Sin and Tidus will act as her body guard while wanting to revenge his country.
Martin Says: Another theory on Sin's origin, and it's yet another believable one. Keeping in touch with the FFX prophecy, Sin could've been buried for 1000 years, only to be summoned up by an evil, enemy summoner. Makes lots of sense, and could very well happen...

Similarities to FFVI

Author: Imhotep
Email: imhotep116@hotmail.com
I think FFX will have a similar plot to that of FFIII/VI. Here's my reasoning on this...

The plot of FFVI showed magic as being very uncommon, and people who had the ability to use magic were sought after by the people in power. Terra, for example, was captured by the empire because of her unique abilities.

In FFX, we already know that Yuna is a summoner. In other FF games, it was common for people to be able to summon, so we didn't know much about their summoning abilities until we actually played the game. But if we already know about Yuna being a summoner, doesn't it seem like it should be an important that she has this ability?

I think that Yuna may be one of the only people left on Spira that has the ability to use magic and summon. She would, therefore, be sought after by whoever the villians may be in the game. It will probably relate to FFIII/VI in a lot of ways.

Martin Says: Ah, could very well be. On Spira, summoners ARE considered celebrities; perhaps that's in part due to the fact that they're rare? The odds of someone kidnapping her for their own nefarious purposes seems more likely than not, anyhow. Aeris was kidnapped because she was the last surviving Ancient; Dagger was kidnapped to extract the eidolons from her. So, odds are, someone will kidnap Yuna for some purpose. But who, and for what purpose, can only be speculated as of right now. ;)

Okay, to begin...

Author: Tide/Tony
Email: dgenerate_x@hotmail.com
A thousand years before, in the world of Spira, technology dominates. Technology flourishes and the people living in it started corrupting the world. In response to the planet's destruction, Shin (Spira's nature) attacked the kingdom that created those technologies. So, Shin basically destroys the known world and retreats itself into a hibernation and waits until the living things of Spira creates technology again.

So, before going off to "sleep," Shin ordered the summoner to make sure the people of Spira don't make the same mistake again. Therefore, Shin gave the summoner the power to stop technology. Yet... Shin gave the summoner too much power.

Okay, fast foward 1000 years. Now, the world lives in peace... or does it? Anyway, technology has long been abolished and Summoners are considered god. Now, how did Tidus and Yuna meet?

In the E3 video, it showed a hurricane attacking a harbor. Therefore, I believe Tidus' hometown was attacked and destroyed. How? Tidus' hometown probably started building technology again and therefore reviving Shin. Shin unleashed a force to destroy Tidus' hometown. Tidus, curious at what is happening, goes and seeks out people who could give him some answers.

So, while searching, he came to an underwater palace. There, he met Yuna. Now, Yuna's dad probably forbid Tidus to see Yuna because of Tidus' care-free nature. So, Yuna would run away from home. Yuna's dad, worrying about Yuna, asked Kimari to look over Yuna. So, Yuna, Tidus, Kimari will explore Spira, find out who/what the Shin are, how to defeat it, and solve the 1000 years old mystery of Spira.

Now, the evil forces in the beginning is the Shin. But later, a person, whom we do not know right now, with evil in his/her heart will try to take the power of Shin. But, that person is too weak to control all of the power. Therefore, Shin and that person/thing will fuse together, creating a force that can destroy the whole planet Spira.

Throughout the whole story, each of the characters would find out their role in this whole big destiny thing. Each character will go through an independent stage. Whether from belief (Yuna), curiousity (Tidus), duties (Kimari), and maybe perhaps love. They will learn to travel with themselves and will conflict with themselves.

In order to defeat Shin, Yuna will go against her belief that Shin is her God, and she will have to summon the Ultimate Summon to defeat Shin. Tidus, and the rest of the crew will help Yuna find the Ultimate Summon.

Shin can simply be defined as Spira's nature. It was created by Spira to protect Spira. Yet, Shin did a little too much of a good job. Therefore, Spira decided to lock up Shin until it is needed again. So, 1000 years later, the War of Shin was long forgotten. Now, nations from the world developed technology and began killing each other again. Spira decided that it is being destroyed so it unleashed Shin.

So, we have a maniac who craves power, Shin, forces from different nations, and caught inbetween are Yuna, Tidus, and the crew. WOW, WHAT A STORY!!!

Martin Says: Ah, the speculation follows the 1000 year prophecy (which is really the cornerstone of things here). Overall, this is probably the best in-depth theory (second only to mine, of course ;) ). Someone trying to control/take the power of Shin is also a very probable thing to occur (gotta be Seymour ^_~). The Kimari/Yuna situation is also very similar to the Steiner/Garnet situation from FF9, no? And no mention at all about the Ebon religion or how they factor into things? ;)

All in all, this is my favourite theory that's not my own, because it makes lots of sense. Instead of Sin being evil, Sin is actually just an extension of Spira's power, as Spira tries to protect itself from the harmful repercussions of technology. Very well described, Tony. ;)
