Squall and Laguna
Here's an interesting image for you; it concerns our freinds Squall and Laguna,
back to back, and there's even something to ponder about at the bottom...

- The Plot Unfolds
As the days pass we are coming ever closer to the big day in Japan; February 11th,
The Japanese press is getting loads of information at the moment to keep interest
alive, and here's an interesting article found on Gamespot explaining various things, like
the origins of Rinoa. This isn't a 'Spoiler'.
There's an area (or country) called Timber where Rinoa lives.
Timber was taken over and occupied by Garbadia. Rinoa is a
leader in the resistance movement called Owl of Forest. She
and Seifer are acquaintances.
After seizing a TV tower in Principality Doll, the president of
Garbadia, Deling, declared war on the whole world. A witch,
Idea, is behind the Garbadia plots. So, Rinoa goes to Balamb
Garden to ask them to assassinate the witch. Then SeeD
(including Squall and Zell) and Rinoa and some people from
Garbadia Garden will hit the road to kill the witch.
Seifer Almasy is an enforcer of
discipline in Balamb Garden. His
assistants are Fuujin and Raijin.
Irvine Kinneas is a student of Garbadia Garden. The latest
screenshots show Laguna wearing a Garbadia soldier's
uniform - he probably lives in Garbadia. Laguna says that he
wants to become a journalist after he's discharged from the
army. The exact relationship between Laguna and Squall is
still unknown. However, Squall and Zell make it to SeeD. And
they'll be fighting the Garbadian army, which means Squall and
Laguna will be enemies of some form...
Squall will meet Laguna in his dream. At this point, it's not
known what kind of dreams he will have.

- General Information
Well, it's been quite a busy week, and you've probably noticed that I haven't updated for a while, so there's a few things that need to be said (even though most of you will already
know):
Firstly, there was a cracking movie released mid-week, by Gaming-Age, of Square's official
Final Fantasy 8 trailer. It was taken from a Japanese games magazine CD, and mark my words,
it's a real showcase. If you would like some screenshots and download the actual movie,
There was also a few screenshots of Laguna with his Galbadian freinds, and shots of the new characters. If you would like more information on that, Click Here.

- Laguna Information
Laguna Loire
Age:27, Height: 181 cm, Weapon: Machine Gun
Before he became a journalist, he had been a soldier contributing his articles
to various magazines as a free-lance writer; "I want to be a journalist after I quit
serving with Garden". He is optimistic and cheerful, and trusted by those who are with him.
In a picture, he is in a military uniform of the Galbadian Garden. He
was reportedly a person who lived in a different world from Squall's, but now we know
he is infact just of a different Garden to Squall.
The Ragnarok
In former Final Fantasy series, Ragnarok was one of the strongest weapons,
but in Final Fantasy 8, it is the name of the flying ship, which appears in every Final Fantasy game, in the form of an Airship.
The ship's length is 108 meters, and its body is red
with the letters ESTHAR on its body (Click here for a pic). It has a charged particle cannon, or kaden-ryushi-hou (I don't know what to
call it exactly, I just tried translating) as its weapon. It was made more than twenty
years ago, but yet it is still one of the strongest
flying ships. It was reportedly made secretly in an unknown country.
Two followings of Seifer
The names of the two new characters are 'Raijin' (18 year old male) and Fuujin
(17 year old female). Raijin and Fuujin are names of old gods of Japanese Shintoism.
Raijin is a 'God of Thunder', and Fuujin a 'God of Wind'.
('rai' is thunder, 'jin' is god, 'fuu' is wind). They are ordinary students of
Garden (as to which one, it is not yet known).
Raijin is a large, muscular man with a very kind nature, but sometimes he can be seen
as a bit timid; A big softy at heart. He carries a club but it is not certain if he becomes a member of the party or not.
Fuujin is a beautiful lady with long, silver hair with an eye bandage on her left
eye. She is a silent and emotionless person, calm in the face of danger or difficulty.
Her weapon looks like a circular boomerang, but it is also not known if she will
become a party member or not.

- Laguna's Back!
Blimey, just as we were getting used to the idea of Laguna being gone (and even changed to
Irvine), a japanese magazine, Jump, has confirmed that Laguna is infact in Final Fantasy 8! He's described as a 'futuristic cop' with a machine gun as a weapon, and in a screenshot, he is shown with a red space ship called the 'Ragnorok' (nearly the same name as Cloud's weapon in Final Fantasy 7). It can change shape in accordance to where it needs to go; it has a different shape for travelling through space than air. Click here for more info.
Also announced are two more new characters called Raijin, meaning 'lightening God' and Fuujin meaning 'Wind God'. Looks like Square have realised the character inbalance in Final Fantasy 7, and like in Final Fantasy 6, have given us much more.
The other Guardian Forces that were announced are called 'Pandemonium' and 'Siren'.
