Disc 1 Q. I just started. Where is Allyway Jack? A. Allyway Jack hangs around Alexandria. He usually walks down the back ally, where the mini-theater is. He had red-ish hair and has 4 arms. Q. What's a good way of beating Baku for the first time? A. I suggest having Zidane and Marcus attacking Baku, loosening his grip. Get Cinna and Blank to steal potions and don't forget to steal Mage Masher. Its a good weapon at the start of the game. Q. Whats the best way to win at the Rope Jumping game? A. For the first 20 jumps, press X, don't move for about half a second and jump again. After the 20th jump, press X right after Vivi touches the ground. Another good method would be everytime you see the "!" symbol, immediately press "X". We found this timing is very useful. Q. What is Mognet? A. Mognet is a sidequest. Speak to a Moogle, they might request you to send a letter to another Moogle. Give that letter to the correct Moogle. You can read the letter, and find out more plot details. Q. Why won't Pyro, Medo and other spells do any damage? A. You are using SFX magic. You use this magic a few times at the start of the game. It is stage magic, so it does no damage. Q. Where are Hippaul's cards in Alexandria? A. When you control Vivi, walk back on screen and check the houses in the background. And to get the other one ; in the tower at the chapel of Alexandria. To get the cards, reject Puck's offer to be his slave and proceed one screen down and turn left (not into Lila's house). Go up the ladder and pull the rope to get Hippaul's cards.You must talk to Hippaul to know about his hidden cards. Q. How many cards can you carry? A. 100.... Any more and you'll have to discard some. Q. I am controlling Steiner for the first time, where is Garnet? A. Princess Garnet is in the left tower. Exit the castle, and go to the left tower. Don't forget to speak with the 8 Knights of Pluto, then you get rewarded an Elixer. Q. In the evil forest, how come it is game over when the plant fully absorbs Garnet or Vivi? A. Because Vivi and Garnet both need to be alive at the end of the battle. Use potions when both of them are down to about 25HP. Q. I just equipped a new weapon for Zidane, how come Zidane can't use "Flee" anymore. A. Because you need to master the ability first. Get enough A.P to master "Flee", then Zidane can use "Flee" no matter what. Q. Why are there so many random eccounters in the Ice Cavern? A. There are a lot of Ice Breezes/Mist in the Cavern. If you step into them, a battle with Wyerds will start. Plus, there are random eccounters. Q. Who is this Ragtime Mouse and Friendly Creatures I encounter? A. Both are friendly encounters. The Rag Time Mouse appears in any forest, and asks you a tricky question. Answer right for a prize. Friendly Creatures beg for "Ores" Give them one and you get A.P.... and a suprise on Disc 3+4... Vivi is underground, you need to use the windmill to get there. And as for Steiner, you can't get him back yet.... Q. About to leave Dali, what Magic should Vivi have? A. Vivi should have Thunder, Fire and Blizzard by now. Equip clothing and new staffs to him. You can steal them from the Boss Battles before going to Lindblum.... Q. I am in Lindblum, Zidane is in the inn, where should I go? A. We recommend going to Tantalas Hideout first (go to the station at the right side of town). There is treasure with money there. Get the money, and go down to the Buissness District again. You should buy some weapons and Synth some great weapons and equipment. Q. What Figurines are on Disc 1? And how do you get them? A. To get the rare items "Figurines", you have to look for "!" or do sidequests. You can get one on disc 1. To get it, go to Tantalas Hideout and look there... Q. How do you win the Festival of the Hunt? And what are the prizes? A. To win the hunt, equip the Ogre on Zidane and fight as many battles as possible. Within the last 3 minutes, head down to the Theater District for a tough, but rewarding battle. Q. What is Chocobo Hot & Cold? A. Chocobo Hot & Cold is a mini-game in the Chocobo Forest. you hunt for treasure there. You find Chocographs, which allow your Chocobo to find treasures on the world map. Q. Should I get Quina? A. Yes, S/He is highly reccomended during Disc 1. But you need Him/Her for Disc 2... Q. Any tips on Frog Catching? A. Yes. Leave the Golden frog in the pond. Leave a Male and a Female frog in the pond also. These 3 will make the production of the frogs grow quicker. Q. How do I learn Blue Magics? A. When a enemy is down to 1/8 of it's full HP, make Quina Eat/Cook them. When tranced, Quina can cook enemys when at 1/4 of their full HP. Q. Whats the diffrence when Freya is in trance? A. She can jump into the air and remain there for a few turns while attacking the enemies from above. Also her normal attack will be multiplied by 1.2 times. Q. What is a quick way of killing Grand Dragons? A. Learn "Limit Glove" from Axe-Beak, from the main entrance of Lindblum. Kill Quina in Gizamalukes Grotto, and revive it so Quina has 1HP. Make sure Quina is alive during the battle and use Limit Glove, which will take 9999HP off the dragons. Later in the game, you can use Level 5 Death on them to kill them instantly. You can eat Nymph, located near the Chocobo tracks near Cleyra to learn "Night", again, which is very useful. Q. Where can I get the Coffee's on disc 1? A. You can get Moccha Coffee at North Gate. Remember the ATE when Cinna got that Coffee? Q. Who is this Stiltzkin? A. Stiltzkin is a Golden Moogle who travels around the world. He is usually one step ahead of the party, and when you see him, he will give you a bargain deal on items. You meet him first in Alexandria, leaving, then you see him in Burmecia. Q. Beatrix is too hard, any easy way to defeat her? A. 2 ways: use your best magics, let Quina be you're healer and jump. Or, keep defending and healing throughout the battle....no attack... After a few minutes, Beatrix will end the battle. Q. What are all the Stellazzio coins I can collect? And what is Stellazzio? A. Stellazzio are coins you find in FFIX. Queen Stella in Treno collects them, and she gives you prizes. The coins you can get on Disc 1 are; Aries (Check Dali windmill, its near the back door), Sagittarius (In Lindblum, check the left side of the Pickle Cart) and Cancer (Check the over turned cart near the entrance of Burmacia). Taurus (check behind Treno's item shop), Gemini (at the entrance of Treno, check the fountain, and throw 13 "10 Gil" coins in), Virgo (Black Mage Village Inn), Libra (check Madain Sari's fountain), Scorpio (check the rock behind the recovery spring in Quans Dwelling). Also check out our Stellazzio FAQ. Q. In Treno weapon shop, How do you beat Griffin? A. Make sure you have enough Stellaizzo coins for Stella to give you the "Blood Sword". Equip it on Steiner, and also have "Bird Killer" as an ability. Each hit you give to the monster will re-fill Steiners HP, and do big damage. Q. Where is Quans Dwelling? A. When outside of Treno, go west along the cliff, you should see a big forest, go through it and you should see a cavern. That's your target. Q. What is the point of Treno's Auction House? A. You can buy rare items and sell them to people around the town. Some are used for minor sidequests later on. You can also buy Reflect Rings and "Dark Matter", which teaches Dagger "Odin". Another point of the place is during disc 4 where you are to buy and sell the four rare items and bid on another rare item known as "Magical Fingertip" This item can become useful during a Disc 4 sidequest... Q. Where is the four-armed-man who mugged Dagger? A. Go to the ground part of Treno and there is a building, south of Stella's palace. Go in there. Q. What Figurines are collectable? A. You can get Mini-Cid from Treno Auction House. Q. What coffee can you get? A. You can get Kirman Coffee on Disc 2. Kirman Coffee is found between the dinner table in Eiko's Kitchen. Q. How can you beat the monster "Sand Golem"? A. Attack its core. Then the Golem itself can't ressurect itself. Q. In Cleyra, I am controlling Freya, what shall I do? A. Save, then go back down to Zidane, Vivi and Quina. Q. Any tips on defeating Beatrix in Cleyra? A. Do the same as before, Jump, use magic etc. Quina should have a lot more Blue Magic now, so why not use them? Q. I am swinging the cage in Alexandria (the one Steiner and Marcus are in), but it isn't doing anything. A. Keep trying. When Marcus tells you the direction, quickly press the correct button. Another good tip, if when the cage is swinging in one direction, press that button of the direction, the cage will go even further. Q. Any tips on Zorn and Thorn? A. Yes. Only attack one of them. Defeat one (I reccomend attacking Thorn, the red one, as he has less HP) and the battle is won. Also, when one of them gives magic to the other one, attack the one who received the magic; otherwise, they'll use a powerful spell. Q. Beatrix is prooving difficult in Alexandria once again.....any tips? A. Yes. You should have a LOT more weapons from Cleyra, Treno and the Mogshop. Equip them, these weapons are powerful, and will get the job over with fast. Q. I am at Pinnacle Rocks, Where is Ramuh? A. Ramuhs ghost is hidden in 5 locations. These range from tree branches, to areas of water. Q. What order is the story by Ramuh? A. The correct order is; Beginning, Cooperation, Silence, Hero; or you can use Beginning, Cooperation, Silence, Human. Q. If I turn Ramuhs offer down, can I still get him? A. Yes, you can still get a Peridot from Griffins in Fossil Roo and the forests around Black Mage Village. Garnet can still summon Ramuh. Q. How do I get Quina back? A. Go back into Qu's Marsh. Quina will be waiting for you there. Q. How do I get to the ruins/ Fossil Roo which leads to another continent? A. In Qu's Marsh, get Quina. After you get him/her, go to the bottem right side of the pond screen. A short scene will happen and you'll automatically be there. Q. What can you do about that monster chasing you in Fossil Roo? A. Not a lot I am afraid. Just run. Keep you're thumb/finger on the analog or DASH button. Q. What is the point in digging, and how do you do it in Fossil Roo? A. When you find the miner who is bored, you can mine. Go around the spiral, hitting X repeatedly. You can find some free treasure. Plus, you can find the moogle "Kuppo". Q. Where can I learn White Wind? A. In Fossil Roo, fight a monster called Griffon. You can also learn it from Myconid/Zemzellets in the Black Mage Forest. And (You can do this on Disc 1), around Cleya, or in the Tree Trunk, eat a low-encountered Zuu. Q. I am on the Outer Continent, where should I go? A. Follow the paths until you see a bridge. Thats your target. You need to walk around, go up a hill to get there. When the words "Outer Continent" are showing, run south as much as possible, there will be no enemy encounters. You will see a Qu's Marsh along the way. Go past Qu's Marsh and call a chocobo on the chocobo tracks. Take the chocobo to go to Condo Petie. Q. How can I find the Black Mage Village? I am in the Black Mage Forest, but can't find it. A. The village is at the end of the forest on the world map. When you get in, walk down the path without the owls. The correct path is RIGHT, RIGHT, LEFT and RIGHT. Q. I am told to goto the Lifa Tree with Eiko, but I can't find it. A. Remember when you fourght Hilgigas earlier? Go north from where you fighted him. Q. How do you beat the red haired man? A. To beat him, equip the new weapon (you did speak to Mog right?) and attack only when he is still. If you attack whilst he is moving, there is a good chance you'll lose. Also, a Hi-Potion won't help much, since it heals 450HP, and the man can do about 450HP each turn. Use an Elixer. Another quick and easy way is to get Zidane to Trance as much as possible. His Solution 9, and spells like that can do heavy damage. Disc 3 Q. What do you do as Vivi in Alexandria? A. Play Hippauls racing, talk to Zidane and follow Blank, Marcus and Cinna to Rubys Mini-Theater (located in the alley where you first met Puck). Q. Any good ways of beating Hippaul in the race? A. Yes. Press the buttons repeatedly, don't take breaks during races, and get someone else to do it if you are tired. I suggest letting you're hand rest every 10 or so runs. Q. What Stellazzio are available on disc 3? A. Leo (check the right side of the Neptune room statue. The room is in the right tower in Alexandria) Capricorn (once you have the airship, go south on the Lost Continant to find Dagurreo. Check the waters to the right once you are in there.) If you want to learn more of Vivi's past, say yes. You can pick him up at Quan's Dwelling. Q. What is Treasure Hunting Rank? A. Treasure Hunting Rank is a side-quest. In Dagurreo, the Four-Armed-Man gives you your rank, and in Treno, a girl in the Inn does. The rank shows Zidane's level in Treasure Hunting. You get points for opening Treasure Chests, stealing and holding Rare Items. Q. How do I beat Catoblepas in Treno Weapon shop? A. Equip "JELLY", "AUTO-FLOAT" and "BEAST KILLER" as your abilities. Equip a Coral Ring to absorb lightning attacks. Use your Physical attacks and Trance. Q. How do I beat Amdusias in the Treno weapon shop? A. First, make sure you're characters level is NOT divisible by 4. If you are at a level which is a multiple of 4, Amdusias will use "Level 4 Holy" on you. Use "AUTO-REGEN" and "AUTO-REFLECT" and use Physical attacks. Q. Can I get the final coffee on disc 3? A. Yes; during the Card Tournament, let Zidane exit Treno and go to Dali. Go to the mayors house and find the Key. Go to the windmill and use the mayors key. Get 30,000GIL from the chest, examine the chest again for the coffee. You should now take them to Mr.Morrid. Q. Where are the Three Strange potions in Lindblum? A. The first one belongs to Cinna, talk to him for it in the Theater District. Whilst in that area, go to Michael the Artists house, and talk to him, then check the chest at the back on the room. The last is in the possesion of Alice the Shopkeeper. Go down to the Business District and speak to her outside of her Item shop. Q. Where is Kujas Palace/ Castle? A. North of the world map. It is inside one of the sand-pits. Q. Who should I take to Oeilvert? A. I suggest taking Steiner, Amarant and Freya. This leave some of you're weaker attackers behind, but there is a magic barrior in Oeilvert. Q. Any way of killing the monsters at Kuja's palace? A. Yes, Quinas Level 5 Death is a useful spell here. Q. My attacks do nothing in Ipsens Castle? How come? A. Everything is reversed here. Your best weapons do nothing. But your worst weapons do a lot of damage. Q. Where are the four shrines? A. The water shrine is SOUTH of Ipsens Castle. You will see a whirlpool. The Fire shrine is North East of Esta Gaza (Mt. Gulug) The wind shrine is SOUTH of Oeilvert. And the Earth Shrine is South of the Desert Palace. Disc 4 Q. Why can't I enter many areas? A. The roads are blocked, that is why. And no, you CANNOT move them. Q. Can I get rid of the mist? A. No... Unless you hack the game. Q. Where is Daguerreo? A. South of Oeilvert. Q. I heard of a sidequest in Madain Sari... A. HUGE SPOILERS! ONLY READ ON IF YOU WANT TO KNOW! Right..... To find out Garnets real name, take Dagger to Madain Sari. Go to the back porch. Lani will run away. Return without Amarant or Dagger and talk to Lani twice. Go to the Eidolon wall and walk clockwise (right) and press "X" when you hear a chime. Do this 9 times. Read ALL the paintings now, and read Ifrits message... Q. What Stellazzio can I get now? A. The final two. Get Pisces from the chest in the "Invincible". Take all 12 Stellazzio to Stella in Treno.
