But there is something else interesting about the scan. Take a look at the pictures on the left side, which portray some kind of structure on a podium. Doesn’t that look like the logo of the game?

Another new scene is Zack in the back of the yellow truck from the flashback where he and Cloud travelled towards Midgar after escaping from Shinra Mansion’s secret basement.

More details on Before Crisis

Click here to see the enlarged photoAccording to AdventChildren.net, a new advertisement plate has appeared on the streets of Japan with more information regarding the game. Playstation magazines on the other side of the world have also revealed new bits of information, which are listed below.

The player will be able to choose from a variety of playable characters, but the progress of the storyline remains the same regardless of whom you picked. So far, only two playable characters have been revealed. The game takes place 6 years before the original started, and Square Enix is hinting that some big secret that happened at this time will be revealed in the prequel.

Characters to appear are the old Turks (Reno, Rude, Tseng), and also Rufus and President Shinra. These are not likely to be playable characters, but more like the ones who give the player’s character missions to accomplish, because there are screenshots that show the player’s character telling Rude that he has completed his mission, and President Shinra telling the player to hurry up and help him out.

The gameplay is based on missions, which can be completed alone or in multiplayer mode that supports up to four players, who can play together via the online connection that these mobiles support. The battles are not random encounters where the enemies jump out from nowhere, like in the other Final Fantasy series games; instead the enemies move on the field, and if they spot the player, they attack. You can avoid being attacked by avoiding being seen by the enemies, and sometimes that is essential for the completion of a mission. Sometimes the player gets to chase running enemies, or alternatively, flee from the enemies after they have spotted the player.

The battle starts by touching the enemy. In battle, physical attacks and magic are available, and it is also possible to escape from battles once they have begun. The player is apparently able to create ‘Magic Materia’ with the camera in the phones, and send them to their friends via network. Earning magic in the game is heavily based on using a mobile phone, so that’s bad news for everybody who planned to download this game for an emulator one day.

Fire Magic spell with red Materia orbMateria is needed in order to use magic spells in battles, just like in the game. The upper right corner of the play screen is dedicated to the Materia menu, and each character has four slots. The Materia system is still going to be different than that of in Final Fantasy VII. In Before Crisis, one screenshot shows a character using a water elemental spell with blue Materia linked in the Materia menu, and in another picture where Fire spell is cast, the Materia is red. In the game blue Materias were supportive and red ones indicated summon Materias.

Beta testing for the game will start on August 31st. It should be interesting to see how this game will be played together by people across the country.

Final Fantasy I-II: Dawn of Souls

The mystery behind the registered trademark ‘Dawn of Souls’ has been revealed: Dawn of Souls is a Final Fantasy I and II re-release on Game Boy Advance, and the game will come out on December 10th in Europe. Nintendo Europe revealed these plans on August 18th and Nintendo America announces the release on their website, but no release date has been given for the stateside release yet.
