(Another) Final Fantasy
News Round-Up
December 10th, 2000 -
With Final Fantasy IX released everywhere around the world apart from the PAL territories
of Europe (U.K.) and Australia, there's a decrease of any major news updates. Instead,
get more accustomed to updates like these until we start seeing some concrete Final Fantasy
X information!
With the WonderSwan Color out in Japan this weekend, with it comes the original Final Fantasy!
Although the game is ten years old, it has received a revamp in the graphics department, and also in
the gameplay with additional side-quests.

Featuring completely revamped graphics...

... you can play this Final Fantasy on the train!

The game received a warm reception from Japanese gaming magazine juggernaut
Weekly Famitsu, giving it very high scores of 7, 8, 8 and 8 for a total of 31/40 - giving it
a silver award.
Bandai have yet to announce a North American release of the WonderSwan Color: we'd take
a good guess at the chances of seeing Final Fantasy I on the WSC over here dependent
on how well sales do in Japan. We'll keep you posted. Click here to view more screenshots.

Not to worry European gamers - we're still awaiting the release
of FFA in the U.K. et al.

SCEA (Sony America) recently released a small list of nine PlayStation One games that had
a few bugs when being played on the PlayStation 2, and this list included Final Fantasy Anthology.
The bugs aren't really serious enough to warrant the two games packaged with Anthology (Final Fantasy VI
and Final Fantasy V) unplayable. According to the
GIA, Final Fantasy VI is not affected with problems only occurring when
trying to save in Final Fantasy V: the save screen may appear distorted meaning the player
will have to be familiar with the layout to save successfully.
Columbia Pictures have revealed Elliot Goldenthal to be the Final Fantasy: The
Spirits Within musical composer. It comes of little surprise that resident Final Fantasy game composer Nobuo Uematsu won't be doing the sound score, considering his commitments with Final Fantasy IX and X.

Yet another award for Sakaguchi-san to put on his cabinet.
|
Not a year goes by without Final Fantasy creator Hironobu Sakaguchi winning an award, and this
year is no exception. At the Japanese awards for digital achievement, Sakaguchi was awarded
with the Chairman's Award for special achievement. Sakaguchi commented:
A new soundtrack for Final Fantasy IX entitled "Final Fantasy IX Original Soundtrack
Plus", will hit Japanese shelves soon at a price of 1,942 yen. The new soundtrack
will contain thirty tracks played through the FMVs in the game (i.e. the tracks
not included in the Final Fantasy IX Original Soundtrack).
