Final Fantasy IX
Recent Goings-On

August 9th, 2000 - With Final Fantasy IX firmly established as one of the most popular games to hit Japanese shelves, us westerners can only look on with anticipation while we wait with baited breath for our respective releases.

Western Release Schedules
Previously thought to be released in October of this year in North America, Square have recently confirmed that Final Fantasy IX will not arrive until November 14th. Quite why they have decided on this is unknown, but you can be sure Christmas will have something to do with it as the translation would have already been largely done by now.

Final Fantasy IX Hits the U.K.
Square Europe will be starting a tour of London and other cities next month to promote their titles, and on September 9th we'll be able to see the first ever pictures of the English version of Final Fantasy IX. Watch this space.

As regards to a release in the U.K. and Europe, we are still awaiting a response from Square Europe, but the latest guesses are a Christmas/Early 2001 (January) release across the continent. Incidentally, Parasite Eve II was released on the 5th of August in Europe, which seems rather strange seeing as the first one never saw the light of day on European shelves...

No information is known at all about the PC version - indeed, it is yet to be officially announced, but we imagine that a Spring 2001 release would seem logical.

Events In Japan
Final Fantasy IX has begun slipping down the charts in Japan after stupendous sales in July, slowly edging to the 2.5 million units mark. You can rest assured it will lurk for a while yet!
