Well by now we all know that FFX will not be online as such but with the power of the PS2 there is still the potential to make a couple of groundbreaking changes that will hopefully take FF to the next level.
1. Square has pretty much got it down pat with the storyline side of things. All I ask is that everything gets revealed to the audience by the time the final FMV finishes rolling. I was slightly disappointed with the ending of FFVIII. They should expand the storyline and truly make it an epic story that we will not forget. I have the utmost confidence that Square can accomplish this.
2. World Map. As it has been of late it is fine but I would like to see them expand it to maybe double the size of what it currently is in FFVIII. A realistic world map where it is not of the utmost importance to visit every town but it can assist with the flow of the storyline. Maybe more than one map, where u have another world (another planet?) to visit would be great and something that none of us would complain about.
3. More realistic characters. Have a choice of more characters to select, all very diverse not only in their abilities but also in their appearance. Also a nice mix of age differences and genders.
4. More plot twists. We all love them and they leave us thinking about it for weeks to come. Death, betrayal; it's been done before but if it fits in with the story I'm all for it.
5. Improved battle strategies. Being able to adjust party formations before fighting, having enemies change formation mid battle or circling your party, being able to let weak party members to escape, it all adds realism to the game. This would be great as long as enemy's difficulty level is increased.
6. Speech. I believe this would be on everyone's wish list and with the new DVD format (even if u need multiple discs which we're all used to) this could become a reality. Even though it would need translations it would be worth it and make the general public really appreciate it. Of course u would still have the option of text.
And that's basically my two cents worth.
