I would like to see the return of Don Conero. Oh yes, that's right. I'm talking about that amazing pimp of all pimps. Him and Palmer. I miss his butt smacking antics. Maybe I can't get those people exactly, but I'd be happy if there was a character that was like them.
I want the magic system to go back to the purchasing of spells. Abilities can perhaps be learned through something different, but I liked buying spells damnit!
I want 4 people in the party again. 3 was too little, there were so many characters I wanted to play as! 5 was a bit much. Seemed to bog things down a bit. (The concept was good though)
I want more of the combination of medieval and futuristic. (Final Fantasy VII) Make chocobo's important again!!! I'm sick of them being unimportant parts to the storyline!
I liked the FFIX approach to half humor and half seriousness. It added to the game. All these things I'd want in FFX plus I want a free plush moogle doll that comes free with every purchase of the game. That would kick major arse! Nothing like a good stuffed moogle.
|
FF:WA Says: Heh, the chances of Mr. Conero and his chums making an appearance are pretty slim
my friend.... but there's always the chance of another pimp-type affair cropping up somewhere. But then again,
FF X seems a more serious lark, what with its realistic character models.
Regarding the four characters to a party: who knows? Square are hinting at getting rid of Active Time Battles and
going for a more strategic stance... maybe the amount of characters to a party will be affected by this?

Bit of a plot twist, was that.
|
Public outcry is good. Giving the player something which they would never expect is a great way for someone to remember a game. We all remember a certain moment of FF7. Anyone who's played the game will remember that moment, and quite frankly, it pissed alot of people off. Which is GOOD! It's what the scriptwriters should be aiming for! 8 and 9, while having the required surprises and non-expected things, didn't have something which could affect us emotionally, and hate so much, a certain character who may have committed this evil deed. To have a character from FF10 die in an extremely sad (and lengthy, high-quality FMV) would be a great.
So, I suppose my wish is for something you would never expect in a million years to happen. a main character dying; one of your characters becoming evil and, possibly, the final boss; or something along those lines. An event which will really affect you at an emotional level. That's my FF10 wish.
|
FF:WA Says: I agree. Having you-know-who die in Final Fantasy VII was probably the most
emotional twist of a videogame thus far, and this was made even more powerful by the leap from SNES-type
graphics to the PlayStation's. Lets face it, you-know-who dying in Final Fantasy VI didn't nearly bring about
as much outrage/praise as Final Fantasy VII's death. What with the built in emotions and voice acting, a death in
Final Fantasy X would be even more powerful/rattle a few cages.

I thought that FFIX was the best game so far and if it keeps going like it is, I'm hoping FFX will be just as good or eve better. Here are my wishes:
|
See that text? Now SquareDude (#22) will be able to turn the T.V. down.
|
1. From what I've read at this site and a few others, there has been talk about dialogue instead of the little boxes where you read the text. I like it better when you have to read it personally. I don't want to listen to the characters talk. I think its better if you think to yourself about how the characters sound because it gives more of a creative flow to the game.
2. I've also heard talk from this site in an interview with Nobuo Uematsu about using rock bands in the game. Keep the music like it is. A few songs with small parts of words, and one major song for the game with lyrics. The fantasy type music gives more of the fantasy feel to the game. If he keeps writing the music the way he is, it'll be just fine.
Those are my only wishes! I can't wait to see the next installment of Final Fantasy, and i'm looking foward to the movie!
|
FF:WA Says: Well, you're in luck son. Square will be including text as well as the voice acting, so simply turn
down the old box and Bob's your Uncle! But that would mean missing out on Uematsu's musical scores... lets
hope Square will include an option to turn off the voices (at least in case it's as bad as the first Resident Evil's).
And Rock music? Remember the battle arena in Final Fantasy VII? Well forget that for FF X... sources indicate there
will be a mosh pit hidden somewhere in the world for Tidus and Yuna to kill nasty monsters.

I would like a return to the futuristic type of Final Fantasy that was in number 8 and 7, and the kind of dark, more grown-up story in 7. I thought that FFVII and FFVIII were the way final fantasy always should have been.
Also, I would like the characters to be tall, not the squat, stupid Yoshitaka Armano junk. I am a little dissapointed in FFIX, but it is ok. I would like something more....ah...serious in Final Fantasy 10.
|
FF:WA Says: You are also in luck as Square have gone for the more realistic approach, a la Final Fantasy
VIII. In fact, if you squint and look at Squall and Tidus side-by-side, they're the same damnit!

Well, my first biggest wish is that all party members can be seen at all times, not only in towns, but on the World Map too. Maybe you remember my post for the FF8 Wish List.
I would still like to see SOMEONE GETTING MARRIED!!!! I don't exactley want a love story, but this would be a nice feature. Maybe you could alter the ending...who do you marry? It would all depend on how you treat the girls in your party. Another thing, chocobo's need a stronger place in the next-gen FFers heart, so bring back racing, breeding, etc. More weapons, characters, possible endings, secret characters, etc. would be nice too.
|
FF:WA Says: Although thus far we've only seen screenshots of Tidus traversing various locations, we would say it's
pretty likely that all party members will be seen at once, not least because it would seem odd returning back
to the Final Fantasy VII method of the other two party members 'merging' into Cloud.
An interesting point about travelling the world map: Square have hinted at there being no
distinction between towns and the world map itself; instead the two will be merged together with it all being in real-time 3D.
Therefore, it would seem likely that all party members are visable on the world map.

The Ability to Customise the appearance of the main character (E.G. Height, Hair colour etc. Also to be able to choose between different pre-set personality types, Such as Friendly, Loner, Etc (this would affect the story as it progresses, like the date in ff7!)
|
FF:WA Says: Interesting idea there, Chris, but this isn't FIFA you know. ;)
In reality, this would be very difficult to impliment in a game of the nature of Final Fantasy X. Perhaps this would
be a feature of the online-only Final Fantasy XI? Only time will tell...

Hold on a minute... the world map didn't look like that a minute ago!

First, I'd like to say that I'm probably slightly biased as having FFIV (FF2us) as my favorite FF of all time. That said, I say bring back the 5 member party! and bring back killing off mass members of your party! And bring back multiple worlds! FFVII, FFVIII, and FFIX were WAAAAYYY TOOO SMALLL!!!!! Though I must say that FFIX did take a step back in the right direction with the equipment and magic! yay! ^_^ I guess that's all for now...
Oh wait, one more thing... FFIV had secrets coming out of the wazoo. DEFINATELY bring that back. No FF afterwards (i dunno about FFV yet. i haven't finished it. i accidentally deleted all of my saves X_X) has had as many secrets! ok. now i'll quit pestering you. Till we meet again.

FF:WA Says: I definitely like the idea of having more than one world - it seems the idea of having
more than one was a SNES feature, with all the PlayStation Final Fantasies only having one. Perhaps with the
PlayStation 2 Square will change this? You never know, what with the water theme there could be a underwater
civilisation? Now that would be most excellent.

I REALLY wish that square would do something with dragons. Dragons are cool and deserve to have a role in FFX. I remember when FFIX was far away from being released, and I saw some artwork for it. I noticed a picture with a cool dragon in it and I thought, "WOW! There's gonna be dragons in this game!" I was sadly mistaken (BAHAMUT doesn't count). Anyway, dragons would be a nice addition to Final Fantasy. Moogles should be kept, and the role of Chocobos should remain strong (not like FFVIII), like being able to level them up and such. Minigames should also stay, maybe a card game, like in FFVIII, but not as complicated as in FFIX. I like the idea of each character having unique abilities in battle (not just LIMIT BREAKS).
Like the jobs system. This makes it easier to level up every one, because they are all useful in some aspect and, therefor, I'd never just use the same 3(or 4) people. Having four people in battle is also good. As for the major changes I'd like to see, no random battles like in Chrono Cross and battle strategy like in Grandia, but of course keeping difficulty relatively high, would be great.
I'd also like to see some secret characters, like in FFVII. As for graphics, obviously, FFX will have spectacular graphics. Hopefully, the graphics will be more realistic than in FFIX, but less realistic than in FFVIII. And for my final remark, I'd like to point out one thing that has really bothered me, but hopefully won't be a problem in FFX. In FFVIII, all cities were closed off. One of Xenogears' major flaws was, to me, the fact that you couldn't visit any of the cities at the end. And in FFVII, the music was very depressing. All of these things makes a very depressing setting and a very dismal feeling overall. Anyway, I guess I've rambled on long enough, so adios amigos.
|
FF:WA Says: It's too early to say at the moment, but your wish of a Dragon having a key role in the
scheme of things could be a possibility seeing as a 'terror has arose from the deep [the sea]'. Perhaps this
is some sort of sea-based dragon? Heh, you never know.

What would be great is a summon spell that summons all of the Final Fantasy characters to attack the enemy. Cecil, Terra, Locke, Leena, Shadow, Cloud, Squall, Zidane, you name it. ALL of the playable FF characters make an appearance in the summon, albeit briefly, seeing as how many characters there are. They all take a stab at the enemy with their signature weapon or ability. The summon could be called "The Fantasy", "Finaltiy", or "Face Your Fantasy". I think it'd be a good way to pay homage to the wonderfull characters that have paved the way for next-gen gaming.
