Reading A Great Book That You Just Cannot Put Down
Name: Lee Langley
E-mail llangley@scott.k12.ky.us - on Tuesday, November 3, 1998 at 16:33:48
Wish: "Final Fantasy, hmmm, I have been playing Final Fantasy games for quite some time now. I started with Final Fantasy 1,2,3,5,tactics,mystic quest and now 7 upon many of the disguisting gameboy games as I am sure many of the rest have as well. But something that I always wish would happen has yet to really ever come true. Final Fantasy is an unbelievable epic story on a disk. It's almost as though your reading a great book that you just cannot put down. And books like games have sequels but the sequels are a wonderful continuation of the prior events.(At least the books that I have read.) But not once has a Final Fantasy game came out as a continuation of its predecessors. The games in themeselves are all wonderful but I can only conjur a million different ways for sequels to follow in the tracks of its priors. Example; Final Fantasy 2 and 3. This in my opinion is the biggest jump between any of the many Final Fantasy games. From midevil to technical! in one jump. How, Why, and When. Why not take off of the last game and begin a new quest. Don't get me wrong midevil or tech they are all wonderful but why not take it further. Why not make it a long mythical journey with thousands of feats and obsticals to overcome and many advancements, human, and technical. New characters, new Enemies, new journeys and quests, and an unreal, abroad world. To conquer so many quest under one main understanding with thousnads of themes and plots would be gratifying and a great challenge for even the best of the RPG'ers. (Myself not included.) Final Fantasy is only at it's beginning and is in for a wonderful future. Regardless of the way things start in 8, no doubt I will love it as much as the others. It was just something to ponder. ...."
Webmasters Comments: "That was a story in itself! I'm positive that Final Fantasy 8 will continue in the footsteps of its predicessors, and it will remain like reading a book that you can't put down, as you quite rightly say. Good stuff. "

Videogaming isn't ready for Gay Characters
Name: TY TY
E-mail daymit@hotmail.com - on Tuesday, November 3, 1998 at 15:10:17
Wish: "First off, i would like to see four characters fighting at a time. With the limitations of the playstation, I don't see this to soon. Second of all, I don't think videogaming is ready for gay characters (sorry laguna), kids play games after all. I also want to know why the fantasy was taken out of final fantasy...everything is bloody technology. That is fine, but tell me you didn't get a kick out of nights and villages and maidens, they should change the game's name to Final Tech. More secret characters would be nice ( maybe three or four 0 If you remember in FFVii, yuffie and vincent were sort of sesret characters, but didn't have a damn to do with the overall story. remember the good old days when you could have eleven or more characters in your party? FFvii only had eight( not counting you know who). the game looks great and I hope to see at least one more female character ( not counting laguna and irvine ) thanks, sorry this was so long. ...."
Webmasters Comments: "Video gaming isn't ready for Gay Characters, and lets just hope it never will be... "

MOOGLES!! Not MOGS!!
Name: John
E-mail LunarShadowSolstice@yahoo.com - on Tuesday, November 3, 1998 at 13:59:32
Wish: "We need a playable moogle character! And for god's sake, call them MOOGLES!! Not MOGS!! We also need some of the older spells, like Meteo, Pearl, Quick, Meteor, vanish, and others! That's all for now, people. ...."
Webmasters Comments: "Moogles, hmm, they've got to be somewhere in Final Fantasy 8, surely? "

Crappy Materias
Name: Lee Arnold
E-mail Arnoldl37@hotmail.com - on Monday, November 2, 1998 at 11:48:15
Wish: "I would like to see the return of some old characters( not just cid) as a secret bonus, for example, Cloud and Red) This would give me a good reason to actually spend time on something worthwile, rather than spending hours for some crappy materia that i'll never use like I found myself doing in FF7. ...."
Webmasters Comments: "Yes, extra characters are vital to replaying the game. But not all the materias where useless, mime was essential!"

A Wish List from Bruce
Name: Bruce
E-mail bruce56@ix.netcom.com - on Sunday, November 1, 1998 at 21:39:42
Wish: "I have to say that I was a little dissapointed with FF7 since it didn't even come close to being as good as FF6's(aka FF3) storyline.

Things that should be put in:

1. You learn and keep spells instead of in FF7 when you lost the spell when you removed the materia.
2. Better Storyline: It explains itself.
3. Evil Boss: Sephiroth was a baby compared to the other FF's. In FF5 you hade to fight Oblivion incarnite. In FF6 You had to fight Kefka, who was not bent on ruling the world, he wanted to destroy everything.
4. Double Worlds: In almost every FF they had a second world. Double worlds ruled cause just when you thought you beat the game, you find out it was only the beginning.
5. Four player parties: When FF7 came out and i found out that they had only three player parties i was annoyed.
6. Imps: BRING BACK THE IMPS!
7. Characters Hacing their own personal abilities: FF7 Sucked because the only way you could give someone an ability was using materia. In FF6 people had more of a storyline because each person knew different abilities. It gave you a sense as if the characters were almost alive.
8. Epic Storyline: In almost every FF except for 7 everyone had their own agendas and they all had to join forces to destroy a common evil.
9. Completely different world than FF7: Don't let FF8 be XXXX years after FF7.
10. More Characters: In FF6 you had something like 10-12 characters to choose from plus 2 secret characters.
11. More secret characters: I want at least three secret characters for FF8
12. Secret Characters affect storyline and ending: FF7 was too linear. The secret characters should affect the how things go int the game. For example, Joe Shmoe would normally fall off a cliff, but if you find Bill Black he saves Joe Shmoe, thus changing the rest of the game.
13. Lots of myseries that you never learn: I think there whould be a lot of questions that are left unanswered,

Things that should be taken out:

1. Main Character: I believe that FF7 could not compare to FF6 is because they focused on Cloud to much and not enough on the suporting characters. In FF6, They developed the characters a lot more.
2. Censoring: NO MORE !@$^$#&(*%$#
3. XXXX Weapon: No more emerald/ruby/whatever weapon. I found it just plain old stupid. They should have made them harder to fight not time consuming. It gave me a headache watching Knights of the round over and over again.
5. Cameos: Please no cameos by cloud or sephiroth, Different worlds and storylines is what made each FF different. ...."

Webmasters Comments: "You're right about Cloud taking the lime light in Final Fantasy 7, but I'm afraid Squall seems to have stolen the show in 8, or at least Laguna/Irvine might have a big say in the scheme of things..."

Narrative Verisimilitude
Name: James Strocel
E-mail jstrocel@sfu.ca - on Sunday, November 1, 1998 at 06:10:49
Wish: "Two words: Narrative Verisimilitude.

I quivered with joy upon seeing Sephiroth's first rampage in Nibelheim. Finally, a FF villain with a deep seated *reason* to be nasty! The elation died down as the game's story editors thought it would be fine to keep Sephiroth's rage non-verbal for the rest of the game. He never found that Hojo was his father, or the truth about Dr. Gast and the ancients. All that remained of Sephiroth was this God-like goombah we get at the end of every final fantasy game.

What I'd like to see is more story! There should be enough stuff in the ff8 world to fill a whole Dekology of fantasy novels (not that I'm suggesting such a thing, but you get the idea)

And there should be something done about FF towns! In the last game, the Shinra corporation couldn't do half its juicy atrocities if there was a weapons shop in every town. There has to be some reason behind putting Anti-tank guns in and old-folks resort like Mideel. ...."

Webmasters Comments: "You are a man fixated in evil and destruction. I like it. ..."

I think you should've put better things in ff7
Name: Eric
E-mail El amigo@prtc.net - on Saturday, October 31, 1998 at 16:02:32
Wish: "I think you should've put better things in ff7. The game was going well before Aeris died . She had a good relationship with all the good characters , specialy Cloud I think she liked him and Cloud too in the botton of his heart. sephiroth did'nt kill Aeris you did it. Why ? you could at least put a secret to revive her. So I suggest you could bring Aeris and Cloud back. How could Cloud be in the game well simple just put Cloud like a secret character and aeris too . The forgotten city don't remove it, put it in the game. when Cloud lets say he was frozen when he was 22 years and he discovers how to revive Aeris and then revives her in the forgotten city when they discover Aeris soul. The story continues as Cloud and Aeris fall in love. Please don't do like you did in Final fantasy Tactics that aeris was in another time because she would sound like she was inmortal and don't do like you did to Cloud to because there wouldn't be an Final Fantasy 7! ...."
Webmasters Comments: "Heh, you wrote this as if I made the game. You're very bitter, take a chill pill! ..."

Return of Aeris
Name: bob frank
E-mail withheld - on Saturday, October 31, 1998 at 13:32:37
Wish: "i think an awesome idea would be a return of Aeris. Maybe if garden was built some where near city of the ancients or if this was some holy place like the church was in midgar you could revive her or something. I think the story would be really interesting if at the end, Aeris leaves the group to reunite her self with Cloud and the gang.i also think there should be some sort of love triangle like in fF7. I also think, it should have a very similar storyline to FF7. I think FF7 was perfect, and if you had Aeris through the whole the game, this game would ROCK!!!!!! ...."
Webmasters Comments: "Well, Bobby, to be blunt, I don't think this is ever going to happen! ..."

EIDOS MUST DIE!! (Again)
Name: Mike
E-mail N/A - on Friday, October 30, 1998 at 23:29:21
Wish: "If the game is only half as satisfying as FF7 it will still be worth purchasing, as long as there are no showstopping flaws... The other guy was right though, EIDOS MUST DIE! I didn't get to play FF7 until it came out on PC, and I was impressed beyond belief. The visuals were greatly superior due to resolution issues between monitors/tv's, but I was lucky in that it ran the first time. The installer was a massive piece of shit, it would not even WORK on half of my machines, the hacked together video support was atrocious, GOD FORBID a card doesn't support 8-bit palletized textures, which would mean that instead of releasing it USELESS on certain cards, they would have to WORK ON THE PORT A BIT. That was a massive piece of shit that almost fucked over the gorgeousness inside. As for wishes, ENTERTAINMENT IS THE THING PEOPLE!! You don't buy a game for the spoken dialogue, or texture maps, or lightmapping, or CD count, or sexual orientation of the cha! racters, IT HOW MUCH FUN IT IS TO PLAY! And sweet mother of god was FF7 fun to play... It's hard to remember a battle that just really really sucked, and with the new functionality they seem to have in FF8 it will be all the better... LONG LIVE SQUARE! ...."
Webmasters Comments: "Another hater of Eidos. They haven't gained much credit from the Final Fantasy 7 port, have they? ..."

Wish: "I do not know what to really expect from final fantasy viii, it could be an a$$ kicking game or it may be not as good as we expected it to be. so i'm not expecting much, but i do hope for 2 things. number 1, that we will NOT see rinoa become squall and zell's enemy just because of the possible connection with edea. she and squall HAVE to get together in order to compensate for the disappointment on the love story that had never went far for cloud and aerith!(yes, i actually wished cloud and aerith had gotten together, just my opinion also, so please do not feel that you have to defend yourself in any way ^_^) and number 2, that IF square does decide to release ff8 for the pc, LEAVE EIDOS INTERACTIVE OUT OF THIS!!!!! they've ruined ff7 for the pc, and it's enough. ...."
Webmasters Comments: "Yes, I would like for Squall and Rinoa to get together, I too felt dissapointed at Final Fantasy 7's 'love' triangle. We want some action, dammit! ..."
