Compensate for the Dissapointment with FF7's 'Love-Story' |

"I do not know what to really expect from final
fantasy viii, it could be an a$$ kicking game or it may be not as good as
we expected it to be. so i'm not expecting much, but i do hope for 2
things. number 1, that we will NOT see rinoa become squall and zell's
enemy just because of the possible connection with edea. she and squall
HAVE to get together in order to compensate for the disappointment on the
love story that had never went far for cloud and aerith!(yes, i actually
wished cloud and aerith had gotten together, just my opinion also, so
please do not feel that you have to defend yourself in any way ^_^)
and number 2, that IF square does decide to release ff8 for the pc, LEAVE
EIDOS INTERACTIVE OUT OF THIS!!!!! they've ruined ff7 for the pc, and it's
enough....."
|
Webmasters Comments: |
"Ooooh, I can promise you that Final Fantasy 8 is going to be some game... an epic. Trust me, if Square mess this stunner up, then I think I'll cry.
You are not the only one to voice their dissapointment with Square and their handling of the 'Love-Story' in Final Fantasy 7, but as Final Fantasy 8's theme
is of love, then I suppose your wish has been granted!..."

"In Vll, there were just too many long, BORING, and
nearly unneccesary dialog/plot-building scenes. I mean, a couple are ok,
but the scene where Cloud was floating under the Materia bush(?) was over
10 minutes and that's if you sit there and hold the damn X button and
don't read what they're saying. Which was almost pointless to the plot.
But enough gripes, I want the general wishes: voices, weapons outside of
the battle sequences, and chocobos, chocobos, chocobos!..."
|
Webmasters Comments: |
"Well, I don't know whether I agree with you entirely, sure Final Fantasy 7's plot building with Cloud's 'flashbacks' were long, and for some tiresome, but if you felt the need to press X quickly so as not to read the messages, then I'm afraid you might not have got the full jist of things, as it were..."

|
Webmasters Comments: |
"Yes, things were too linear, if that's what you mean, and I do hope that things do change in Final Fantasy 8 as to the RPG aspect of the game. Final Fantasy 7 was just too linear to be an RPG in my eyes, lets hope Square addresses that problem..."

Wish: |
"In first place I would like to say that I am
Brazilian and excuse me for the language mistakes that come to happen.
I will list to be more specific than I would place or it would remove:
I would place....
+ Gameplay: to get stairs and go up montains (Mt. Nible) was terrible in
FFVII
++ Sounds: Voices at least for the interjections and call spells, songs as
themes of the towns and endings instead of simple sound arrangements.
+ Playtime: minimum of 60 at 70 hours instead of 30 at 40
+ Minigames: +++++..... ;-)
+ Humor: tends as example FF4 and FF5
+ Creative spells: Fire could burn ;-)
++ Subquests: More difficulties and cools; boss as the weapons; -)
++ Strategy elements: Climate, terrain (poison floor), scenery and
temperature, more interaction with the scenery.
+++: Equipments with different attributes and you altered for use during
the whole game without attributes as defense, attack.... directly instead
attributes as: HP up, MP up, critical hit, etc. more or less as in P.E;
Fast save game, i.and. Saga Frontier; Artificial intelligence for the
enemies; abilities out of the battles (i.and. Breath of Fire II); team
combos (i.and. saga frontier) alternative clothes (visual of the
equipments?); Damage limit Up for 99999 instead 9999 (Bahamut Zero ^_^).
I would remove:
- Items without usefulness (i.and. gambler, masamune sword, autograph,
1/35 soldier)
- Character entering inside of character (already removed ;-)
- Focus in the main character
- Futuristic look (argh!)
- Dialogues in text box with visible backgrounds (it would place
transparent backgrounds to appreciate the scenery)
Wooow!!!! this was very big, I'm sorry, publish this if you want ^_ ^ ..."
|
Webmasters Comments: |
"Woowsers! Thanks for that, Everaldo, your english is very good!... A few points to clear up; I think the futuristic look of Final Fantasy 7 has been scrapped (in Squall's world at least...) in favour of a more 'medievil' or 'classical' approach (but things are still a bit techno) so your wish has been granted there! Heh, about the 'getting up the stairs' bit, I can't remember that at all!!..."

against the final boss, there sould be a different ending like if Sephiroth
won the world, he would get hit by the meteor and explode.
Also, NO GAY CHARACTERS!!!!!!! Please,
but i think Laguna is a crossdresser

walk you know the basic stuff.

so often, steps back and ask's: "Is this a Final Fantasy game?" FF7 was
good, but the leap from FF6 was a little jarring...
...."
|
Webmasters Comments: |
"Yes, I know what you mean. Gone are the days of Castles and 'Save the Princess', Final Fantasy has had to change its image. Think about it, would Final Fantasy 7 have been so popular in the west, and even Japan, if it retained the same sort of looks and story as the classic on the SNES?"

Well, with the amount of inbreeding that went on in most of my game, I
would personally like to see the results of such inbreeding in 8. You
know, four heads, three eyes on each head, five legs, three sets of hips,
and so on. You get the idea.

I also like to see different Chocobo Like ones that can fly and breath

"Heh, well the idea of more mini games is bound to be granted in Final Fantasy 8 because basically FF8 is going to be a much bigger game than FF7. Chocobo's that 'Breath Fire'!! Well, I don't think that will ever happen. They've got that cute image to maintain, you know."

DEATH TO EIDOS, BURN THE BRINGERS OF PAIN!!! |

"What I would really like the most out of Final
Fantasy VIII is that when it comes time to do the PC version it will not
be put into the hands of Eidos Interactive, creators of such wonderful
hideously programmed PC games as Tomb Raider and Deathtrap Dungeon. I
work for a small PC store where FFVII was the best selling game for a good
two months, eventually so many copies came back that we stopped carrying
FFVII for the PC as it is notoriously diffucult to get to run on all but
the most delicately maintainded machines, i.e. your hardcore gamer's rig,
people like me who A: Have great hardware, and debugging hardware
knowledge B: Know what software to avoid and knows how to treat "deviant"
software (DirectX), and C: Developed software skills thanks to the good
old days of DOS, oh the joy of beating your system to death to get that
one extra K of conventional memory... memories. I have spent some much
time tweaking, no shoehorning FFVII on so many machine!
s that the fun of the game was long since beaten out of me. I can tell
you how just horrible it is to maintain the near perfect balance that must
be maintained between DirectX, DirectVideo, DirectShow, DirectDeath,
DirectSex, etc. and all the lame peices of crap hardware out there. I
mean come on Eidos. What user honestly knows how or where to get all the
misc. bull$h|+ that software, like the most up to date drivers for their
hardware, that are needed to get the game to run correctly? This rant
really isn't aimed at Squaresoft as they do not have to worry about
compatibility as they are working with dedicated hardware, PSX, but i just
had to add my two cents. DEATH TO EIDOS, BURN THE BRINGERS OF PAIN!!! AH
HA HA HA... Hmm... more coffee.
Better graphics would be good, better ending to. More chocobos, you just
can't have enough Chocobos.
...."
|
Webmasters Comments: |
"Yes, I heard that the PC converstion of Final Fantasy 7 was very poorly programmed/converted. This is bound to happen when there's 3 Gigabytes of stuff to convert, most of which is done by the notoriusly untidy Japanese coders. I don't think that Tomb Raider was poorly programmed, but yes, Final Fantasy 7 was a disgrace for many people. When you think how much more powerful your average PC is nowadays than the Playstation, it's quite a shame..."

Cloud and Tifa, and mabey even Barret or mabey even hear or read *voices
would be nice* there names.
thats about all I can beg for now, except mabey this time a game that took

Wish: |
"I liked the way FF7 was constructed; not too
difficult and yet not too easy. This allows the player to enjoy the story
while getting some challenge. The ending was great too except I had to
watch it a few times to understand it fully.
I would like to see more optional quests where you can get bonus items for
completing them. Voices for the characters would be a real nice touch
too. The last thing I want to mention is that I would like the graphics
to smoother. The arms in FF7 were just weird looking. :-)
That's it for me...."
|
Webmasters Comments: |
"So basically in wanting more optional quests, you want FF8 to be more of an RPG than an adventure which FF7 was. I really don't know yet if FF8 will be more 'RPGish' in its nature..."

optional characters and maybe some interesting extra plot.
